David S. Gibson II is a partner at Davis, Hutchinson & Wilkerson, LLP, where his practice focuses on health care law, health care transactions, and business and real estate matters. He serves as transactional counsel to health care providers, physician groups, and closely held businesses, advising clients on structuring, negotiating, and closing complex transactions while supporting their ongoing operational and legal needs.
Mr. Gibson’s health care law practice emphasizes health care transactions, including acquisitions and sales of medical practices, free-standing emergency departments, and other health care facilities; health care mergers and acquisitions; provider and management agreements; real estate transactions involving health care properties; and contractual and regulatory matters affecting health care businesses. He regularly advises clients on issues intersecting health care law, corporate law, and real estate law, with a practical focus on compliance, risk management, and business efficiency.
In addition to his health care practice, Mr. Gibson represents clients in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, development, and financing, as well as general corporate and M&A matters. He frequently acts as outside general counsel to growing businesses, assisting with entity formation, governance, contracts, and day-to-day legal issues.
Mr. Gibson is known for providing clear, business-oriented legal advice tailored to the needs of health care providers and entrepreneurs operating in regulated environments. His experience allows him to guide clients through transactions that require careful coordination of health care regulations, corporate structuring, and real estate considerations.
Mr. Gibson earned his Bachelor of Arts with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he served as President of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. He received his Juris Doctor with honors from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, where he was an associate editor of the Law and Business Review of the Americas and published in the journal in 2009. While in law school, he was awarded the Israel Deben Scholarship.
He is a life member of the Texas Exes Alumni Association and remains active in the Coastal Bend community.
